About the TaiwanICDF
The International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF
was established on July 1, 1996. It serves as Taiwan’s dedicated international development and cooperation organization. With a mission of “ working for humanity, sustainable development and economic progress,” the TaiwanICDF shares Taiwan’s development experience with partner countries, and assists developing nations in their efforts to become self-reliant, enabling them to emerge from poverty and other developmental difficulties amid globalization.
The TaiwanICDF is a bilateral development organization that offers both financial and technical assistance by establishing a comprehensive framework of implementation with short-, medium-, and long-term development programs in banking and finance, technical cooperation, international human resource development, and humanitarian assistance.
The TaiwanICDF and JIC
Since 1998, the TaiwanICDF collaborates with domestic universities in Taiwan to
establish higher education scholarship programs for foreign students to pursue advanced studies in Taiwan. The programs aim to meet the increasing demand for highly qualified people in Taiwan’s partner countries. All courses are taught in English to provide a high degree of flexibility for foreign students, allowing them to avoid languages
obstacles in their studies.
In 2003, the TaiwanICDF and the universities participating in the scholarship program established the Taiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA) as a platform for the academic sector of Taiwan to participate in international education and development projects. In order to integrate international cooperation research results from
Taiwan and it’s partner countries, in 2006, the TaiwanICDF sponsored TICA to publish
Journal of International Cooperation (JIC) to serve as a platform for discussing issues related to food security, public health, management, and others on a global scale.
